About
Why we made Provr
Before LLMs, learning required struggle. You had to search, filter, and piece together concepts. We didn't realize it, but that friction was exactly what built competence.
Ever since the release of commercial Large Language Models, anyone can get a concept broken down to them within a second. But, is that really learning? No matter what tools come along, there is a certain amount of time that one needs to stare at a solution or resource before it finally clicks. Language models have shrunk that time to zero.
We present the information in a way that replicates the natural curiosity of the mind to search and explore, and only let you move along once you have mastered those concepts in a real-world scenario.
The time it takes to learn something always remains the same; it's the process to present the information that should be reduced.
We're not saying AI shouldn't be used to learn. There's a balance for everything.
And, for those who ask what the point is to learn anymore if AI can do it better: AI is a tool, mastery is a choice. If humans stop learning, and more importantly, learning how to learn, we don't fall behind AI. We fall behind each other.
